NewsSHEBOYGAN — Firefighters responded to a fire at Tower Car Wash at North 14 Street and Erie Avenue Monday afternoon.

At approximately 1:29 PM, the Sheboygan Fire Department received a report of a fire inside the Tower Car Wash located at 1108 North 14 Street.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they discovered moderate black smoke coming from the control area of the car wash building.

A fire had been ignited when a flammable liquid was spilled accidently by the building owner and then started on fire when a trouble light bulb being used in the area broke. The fire was extinguished quickly but not until it damaged four tires, various items stored nearby and a large electrical control panel on the wall adjacent to the fire.

No injuries were reported.

The estimated damage is $20,000. City records show the building belongs to Jeffrey Henning.
