SHEBOYGAN — A new fun-filled, family event for the Sheboygan area this holiday season, Making Spirits Bright, a drive-through holiday lights display, will take place in Sheboygan’s Evergreen Park, beginning tonight until December 16, on selected evenings.
This dazzling lights display is a joint effort of the four Sheboygan County Rotary Clubs and promises to be an outstanding event with exciting visual effects as cars drive through the park. The clubs are currently busy constructing the displays which will use thousands of lights to create this wonderful holiday experience.
Rotary Clubs in other Wisconsin cities have been holding similar successful lights shows for many years, and they have been instrumental in assisting the Sheboygan County clubs in start-up efforts.
In addition to the drive-through displays, there will be family-oriented activities at the Quarry View shelter each evening along with refreshments.
There is no admission charge to Making Spirits Bright; however, free will donations of non-perishable items are requested to help fill the shelves of local food pantries, distributed through the Food Bank. The pantries have seen a significant increase in demand for food, paper products, and household items as a result of the poor economy and this project can help in that solicitation without adding any costs to the budget.
Cash donations will also be accepted to help keep the project going year after year. Substantial investments will need to be made annually to repair burned out lights, to add new displays, and defray the costs of insurance, storage space, marketing and rentals.
Making Spirits Bright opens Thursday night at 5 PM.
