SHEBOYGAN — Studio Players, the second stage off-shoot of Sheboygan Theatre Company, are holding auditions for their production of “Lone Star” and “Laundry and Bourbon” on Monday, February 18 at 6:30 PM.
Directed by Tyrone Wesley, these two one-act plays will be the third and final production of the Studio Players inaugural season. The auditions will take place at Paradigm Coffee and Music, located at 1202 North 8th Street in Sheboygan.
“Lone Star” is a one-act comedy about Roy, a Vietnam veteran who can’t find direction or an occupation in his small home town in Texas.
There are three male roles in the show. Roy is a James Dean type and is rude and abrasive but quite the ladies man. Roy is idolized by his younger brother Ray. Ray is a rather nerdy character and requires physical comedy. Finally, there is the role of Cletis, a pocket protector nerd who also idolizes Roy.
“Laundry and Bourbon” is the female side of the story. This one-act is a comedy and drama about Roy’s wife and how she deals with Roy’s womanizing and lack of direction.
There are three female roles available. Elizabeth is Roy’s wife who is a ‘stand by your man’ kind of woman. Hattie is Elizabeth’s brassy best friend. Finally Amy, Cletis’ wife, is a gossip who likes to rub people’s nose in the dirt she accumulates.
