HOWARDS GROVE — Pallets International recently announced Wisconsin’s Lakeshore Pallet has signed on as the initial distributor of the firm’s new wood-corrugated composite pi pallet.

Its patented design yields a pallet far lighter than wood (19 lbs. vs. 45 or more), yet able to haul and rack similar loads.

From its first use the pi pallet will deliver substantial fuel-related savings for LTL (less-than-truckload) and air freight shippers, who pay by weight. FTL (full truckload) and container shippers save by adding more cargo to shipments before reaching weight maximums. Since it is reusable, recyclable, and saves fuel, the pi pallet scores well on sustainability. And heat-treated wood means it is pest-free and certified for overseas use right off the assembly line.

Mark Bender, owner of Lakeshore Pallet, was intrigued at the prospect of offering his customers an environmentally-friendly pallet that will save them money. “Every business wants to go ‘green,’ but these days companies are watching their pennies. Sales calls are a lot easier when you can save your prospects money.”

Pallets International is a privately held company with patents on the pi pallet. It is seeking regional distributors worldwide.

Howard’s Grove-based Lakeshore Pallet assembles and sells new and used wood pallets, as well as the pi pallet, throughout southeastern Wisconsin.
