SHEBOYGAN — On Friday night, the holiday season comes to life with twinkling lights, holiday displays with lights set to music, and animation at Evergreen Park and Funland at Quarryview Park, culminating a year of planning, constructing, and installing displays for this year’s “Making Spirits Bright.”
Since the end of last year’s inaugural event, the four county Rotary Club members and volunteers have been busy building new displays, reconfiguring existing ones, and enhancing the route for this season’s event.
Electrical upgrades needed to be made in the park to be able to add additional displays and create more visual excitement along the drive. Visitors can expect to be treated to many new displays and accompanying holiday songs while driving the route with the upgrade of the audio quality.
In addition, there will be family fun and refreshments at Funland at Quarryview Park directly across the street for visitors to take advantage of each Thursday through Sunday. Santa will be returning to visit with children again this year, and there will be entertainment provided most nights.
Admission is free; however, food pantry donations are appreciated which are distributed through the Sheboygan County Food Bank to area pantries serving those in need. Last year, the “Making Spirits Bright” collection provided over 41,000 items to the Food Bank.
The entire event is held with the generous volunteerism of church groups, community organizations and businesses who staff the event each evening. “Making Spirits Bright” is open each night between November 29 and December 28 from 5:00 – 9:00 PM with the exception of Christmas Eve, December 24, when the park will be closed.
